We have some news to share, we have been waiting for the changes to be finalized but now I think we are good to go! Chad is heading out to Alberta to work at the end of this month. We are moving to a new place the middle of next week. Surprise! Our other rental was being put up for sale and we had to be out, so we are left with 6 days in our current house before moving 4 minutes down the road to the new place! And I am seriously considering going back to school. If he goes out to Alberta and stays working for a year we are hoping to purchase a home next summer. We are also looking to try IVF if we can save some money. We are still pursuing adoption but IVF is another option.
Our criminal records checks came back excellent, and we start our courses for adoption on October 4. The only issue is that Chad may be out in Alberta by then!!! So I am not 100% sure what is going on there, whether he will have to take some catch-up courses when he gets home or how that is going to go.
I am looking to pursue a career in Social Work, and have been in touch with several people to find out what the pre-requisites are. It is looking like the only way to get anywhere in life is to go into debt for a few years of university, do some major networking while getting my education, and hopefully have a job lined up when I am finished. But you never know what is going to happen!
I have been in touch with the local high school because I need 5 university credits minimum before I apply at DAL for my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW). The high school offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) program and those courses each count as 1 university credit. If I took and aced all 4, I would only need to get 1 more to be able to apply at DAL. I am hoping to hear back from the school in the next couple of days, be able to meet with a guidance councilor, ask all my questions and get everything figured out. I can be a returning grad but am not sure if the local high school will take me as I did not graduate from that school. I have room in my high school credits for 4-5 more, I only had 18 or 19 and you can have 23 total. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
