So the other day, I posted a short blog about how things have been going and a brief update. I left out quite a bit because we were waiting to make a big announcement to our families on Facebook. We are starting our family!!! Beginning in August 2015 with the help of our lovely friend and surrogate Charlene, we will start trying for a baby using her eggs and Chad's sperm. We are of course going to use the full legal route so I am also the legal parent to the child, even if I'm not the biological mom!
I cannot even begin to express how excited I am. I was gifted some baby clothes, I purchased a crib and mattress, and we have lots of toys and books for a little one. We should be due around my birthday, May 2016. Charlene is a FABULOUS support, she wants us to be at all the appointments, and stay with her closer to the due date. She has given us advice on how I can breast feed (there is a medication you can take to trigger the hormones and induce milk production). She has been lots of fun to chat with, share ideas and can't wait for the whole thing to start! We are going to have lots of cute surrogate-and-bio-parent pictures taken, and I am hoping to have a 3D ultrasound session as well. I will be going above and beyond with the excitement for this little one to arrive. This baby has been wanted desperately. This baby has been saved and prepared for. We have lots of family and friend support, and cannot wait to start our journey to become parents!
PS Yes I mentioned in a previous post that I am going back to school in September. Never fear, I am still planning on going to school and finishing within the two years!! Early Childhood Education is a 2-year program and I'll be starting in September 2015. Classes finish around the end of April, and the baby should be here in May. I will then have 38 weeks parental leave from work (I am not entitled to maternity since I am not carrying the child.) I will continue doing my school work from home, and since I will be working in the day care at the school, I have an option should I need to return to classes and need child care. Not to mention I know I have lots of family and friends who would babysit if needed! I am confident we can accomplish this. We are very excited to become parents and live our lives together! Wedding plans are in the works as well..... ;) <3
